After a 6-0 routing of Bulgarian visitors Ludogorets in the Champions League on Wednesday, Arsenal fans will have been confident of taking all three points from struggling Middlesbrough, who were the next to turn up at The Emirates.

With their North London rivals, Tottenham, being held to a 0-0 draw at Bournemouth in the early kick off on Saturday, the Gunners had the chance to open up a gap at the top of the Premier League with a win on Arsene Wenger’s 67th birthday.

However, Aitor Karanka and his Boro side had different ideas. The visitors really should have taken the lead in the first half with a flurry of chances scaring the hosts.

Into the second half and Arsenal had chances, with in-form Theo Walcott fluffing some golden chances to make top stop their own.

Their afternoon was summed up as Ozil flick the ball home late on only to see his goal rightfully ruled out for being offside.

A frustrating afternoon for the home fans, and here are FIVE of the best Arsenal fan tweets from Saturday afternoon…

Awkward…

How philosophical…
