Klopp’s Liverpool secured a deal for the 25-year-old last summer from Southampton, although that wasn’t the first time the Reds boss attempted to land the attacker.

The 49-year-old spoke to Mane back in 2014 about a potential transfer to Borussia Dortmund, before Klopp decided against chasing the Senegalese international, who then went on to join Southampton later in the year.

Klopp admits to making ‘a mistake’ back then, so it wasn’t a huge surprise to see him secure Mane’s services last summer.
