Perhaps their most disappointing spell of their debut Premier League season came in April; where AFC Bournemouth succumbed to four defeats in their five league outings last month, however nothing should be taken away from the Cherries’ achievements this term.

In respect of Eddie Howe’s team only winning one of their April encounters, a narrow 2-1 victory over already relegated Aston Villa, it was slightly harder this month around to pick out their Player of the Month. However, it is forward Joshua King.

The former Manchester United winger is Bournemouth’s top goalscorer in all competitions so far this campaign with seven goals and four assists to his name – with two of those goals coming in consecutive games last month.

King, who is a Norway international, scored the second and decisive goal at Villa Park to eventually seal a slender 2-1 win for Howe’s men at rock-bottom Villa on April 9.

The 24-year-old also got on the scoresheet the next game around, just eight days later at the Vitality Stadium, netting Bournemouth’s consolation goal in the third minute of injury time during their 2-1 loss to Liverpool.

King then wrapped up his monthly proceedings by setting up Marc Pugh’s equaliser against Everton last Saturday, despite the Toffees eventually finding a winner through Leighton Baines’ second-half effort.
