Arsenal have completed the £2 million signing of Bolton Wanderers defender Rob Holding.

The 20-year-old, who won the Trotters’ Player of the Award last term as the club were relegated to League One, has penned a long-term deal with the Gunners, and will look to provide competition across the back four.

The centre-back, who can also operate at full-back, was part of the England Under-21 side that was victorious in the Toulon tournament in France this summer, alongside new teammate Calum Chambers.

Talking about his move, he told Arsenal.com: “It’s something you dream of as a kid – I can’t wait to get started.”

Holding made 30 appearances in all competitions for Bolton last season as they lost their battle to stay in the Championship, scoring one goal.

He is Arsene Wenger’s third addition of the summer, following in the footsteps of Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach, and Takuma Asano from Sanfrecce Hiroshima.
