Arsenal are reportedly eyeing a summer swoop for France international forward Karim Benzema, according to Fichajes (via the Express).

The Premier League side, who currently sit third in the English top-flight standings, but 11 points adrift of surprise league leaders Leicester City with a game in hand, have been linked with a move for the Real Madrid striker once the 2015-16 campaign draws to a close.

The 28-year-old, who has 76 international caps for his country, has scored a sensational 24 goals in 26 appearances in all competitions for the La Liga giants so far this season.

Benzema, who arrived at the Bernabeu from Ligue 1 side Lyon back in July 2009 in a deal worth up to €41m, is wanted by Gunners boss Arsene Wenger to help the club rebuild this summer and help win the Premier League title next term for the first time since 2003-04.

The Frenchman has been a long-term target of the Arsenal manager’s, with the report suggesting Benzema could be lured to the Emirates Stadium as support and competition for fellow forward Olivier Giroud.
