Arsenal have reportedly launched a bid for Championship defender Rob Holding, according to Bolton News and Football Insider.

The Premier League side, who currently sit third in the English top-flight standings and visit fourth-placed Manchester City on Sunday afternoon, are interested in snapping up the highly-rated Bolton Wanderers defender following the club’s relegation from the Championship this term.

The 20-year-old, who enjoyed a successful loan spell at Bury last season, scored one goal and provided one assist in 30 appearances in all competitions for the Trotters this campaign.

Holding, who graduated through Bolton’s youth ranks, has also been linked with a move to fellow Premier League rivals Everton.

Trotters boss Jimmy Phillips revealed that he was asked by the club’s owners to drop the centre-half from Bolton’s startling line-up against Fulham on Saturday following the transfer speculation.

The report suggests that Holding is rated at around £10m having impressively broken through at the Macron Stadium this year, before being handed over the club’s Player of the Year award.
