Arsenal have reportedly dropped out of the running to sign Gabon international superstar Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to the Mail on Sunday.

The Premier League side, who face Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon, were linked with numerous moves for the in-form Borussia Dortmund striker ahead of this summer’s transfer window.

The 26-year-old; who has 49 international caps for his country, has scored a remarkable 37 goals in 44 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit so far this season, including 12 assists.

Aubameyang, who is valued at around the £70m mark, is now heading to either Premier League rivals Manchester United or La Liga giants Real Madrid this summer according to reports following the Gunners’ withdrawal.

Louis van Gaal’s Red Devils are now in a two horse race with Zinedine Zidane’s side, who face arch rivals Manchester City in the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League this campaign.

Aubameyang has netted 78 times in 138 games for Dortmund since joining the club back in July 2013.
