Arsenal Ladies have signed Vivianne Miedema, the Bayern Munich and Netherlands striker.

The 20-year-old has spent the past three years in Germany, and was part of the Bayern squad that won the Frauenbundesliga in consecutive seasons.

“Vivianne is a top player in Europe, she’s very young and she’s probably one of the best players for the future in Europe,” Arsenal coach Pedro Martinez Losa told the club’s official website.

“She’s been scoring goals for her national team since she was 18 and creating an impact in the women’s game. Now she’s 20. She signed for Bayern Munich and she won the Bundesliga and has been scoring goals.

“She is very much a star that can shine here very soon.”

Miedema joins fellow Dutch stars Sari van Veenendaal, Danielle van de Donk and Dominique Janssen in the Gunners squad.

“I just had a great feeling when I came here,” Miedema told the club’s official website.

“Of course I have been visiting some more clubs and needed some time to think about what I wanted. I just had a great feeling here, it just felt familiar and I also heard from the other Dutch girls that they really enjoy it here.

“So everything together, I just thought it was going to be my choice.”

Miedema has scored 34 goals in 48 international appearances for the Netherlands and netted 14 times in 22 league outings for Bayern this season.
