Atletico Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Chile international superstar Alexis Sanchez this summer, according to the Independent.

The La Liga side, who currently sit third in the Spanish top-flight standings, 10 points adrift of joint-leaders Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, have been linked with making a move for the Arsenal forward ahead of the forthcoming 2017-18 campaign.

The 28-year-old, who has 108 international caps for his country, has impressively scored 25 goals and provided 18 assists in 47 appearances in all competitions for the Premier League outfit so far this season.

Sanchez, who arrived at the Emirates Stadium back in July 2014 following his reported £31.7m switch from FC Barcelona, has netted 67 goals overall for the North London outfit, lifting two FA Community Shields and the FA Cup under boss Arsene Wenger.

However, the report suggests Atletico manager Diego Simeone is looking to sign a ‘fast striker’ this summer to play ahead of fellow forward Antoine Griezmann, with Arsenal’s Sanchez a potential target.
