Aston Villa were beaten in all five of their matches in April – stretching their losing run to 11 successive matches in the Premier League – but the team at least showed a bit more fight than they did in March, scoring five goals compared to one the previous month.

Three of those five goals involved midfielder Ashley Westwood, who scored twice in the 4-2 home defeat to Southampton, before his corner was headed home by Ciaran Clark as the Villans came close to picking up their first points since the start of February in a narrow 3-2 loss to Watford last weekend.

While not many players from the Villa side will attract too much interest from other top flight clubs following their dismal campaign which ended in relegation, Westwood is one of those that could be a good addition for at least some of the newly-promoted clubs.
