Lescott’s Villa conceded a league high of 76 goals last season – Photo: Paul Roberts / Offside.

A truly forgettable season for the Villains as they were relegated from the Premier League for the first time in their history; but after helping end the club’s barren 11-game losing streak, Lescott takes home Shoot’s award for May.

The Midlands outfit must start preparing for a long summer ahead, with many changes expected – both players and staff-wise.

May started with a 0-0 draw at home to fellow strugglers Newcastle United as Villa ended their embarrassing run of 11 straight defeats, with Lescott being at the heart of that defence which ended the rot.

Villa then ended their turbulent campaign with a 4-0 defeat away at Arsenal, as they ended their season rock bottom of the league standings on just 17 points.

Overall; centre-half Lescott featured in 32 of Villa’s 38 Premier League encounters this term, scoring two goals – against Southampton and Norwich City respectively.
