Bournemouth have approached Premier League leaders Chelsea about the possibility of a loan deal for club captain John Terry, according to reports from Sky Sports News HQ.

The former England international signed a year’s extension with the Blues last season but has seen his first team chances limited this term, with new manager Antonio Conte sticking to a settled XI during their scintillating run of form, which took them to the top of the league.

Cherries boss Eddie Howe is in need of cover at the back after the west London side recalled Nathan Ake from his loan spell with Bournemouth, in order to give summer signing Marcos Alonso the chance to fully recover from a muscle problem.

The 36-year-old has won four league titles, five FA Cups and a Champions League, amongst other trophies, during his time with Chelsea, and would represent another scalp for Eddie Howe this season.

The former Cherries midfielder also brought in Arsenal and England man Jack Wilshere on loan in the summer window.
