AFC Bournemouth are reportedly lining up a £6m January bid for Premier League striker Dwight Gayle.

The newly promoted outfit, who currently lie second bottom in the league table, want to bring the Crystal Palace hitman to the south coast in the New Year to fill the void left by top goalscorer Callum Wilson who has been ruled out for up to six months through injury.

The 25-year-old, who was only playing non-league football with Bishop’s Stortford just three years ago, has failed to score in six Premier League appearances so far for the Eagles this season.

However Gayle, who arrived at Selhurst Park from Peterborough United back in the summer of 2013, has netted four times in just three League Cup games for Alan Pardew’s side this term.
