Bristol City maintained their winning start to the Championship campaign with a 2-1 victory at Burton Albion, thanks to a dramatic stoppage-time winner.

Tammy Abraham had put the Robins in the lead just before half-time as the on loan Chelsea striker scored for the third consecutive match.

Tom Naylor’s equaliser two minutes from time looked to have earned the Brewers a point, only for Abraham to net his fourth goal in three matches since his summer move in the fifth minute of time added on.

Huddersfield Town have also won their first two league matches after beating Newcastle United 2-1 on their travels, as Rafael Benitez’s side are yet to earn a point.

Nakhi Wells opened the scoring after converting Rajiv Van La Parra’s perfectly timed cross, before Dwight Gayle’s penalty leveller for the Magpies. But, there was to be more drama as Jack Payne’s terrific strike drove into the bottom left-hand corner as the Terriers won their first game at Newcastle since 1953.

Fulham were considered among the relegation candidates before the season started, but they won for the second consecutive time as they won 2-1 at Preston North End.

Sone Aluko’s goal-mouth header put the Cottagers in front and they doubled their lead when Tom Cairney teed up Matt Smith for a simple finish. Callum Robertson pulled one back for the hosts, but they were unable to find an equaliser.

Aston Villa kick-started their league campaign at the second attempt as they brushed aside Rotherham United 3-0 at home. Rudy Gestede helped himself to a brace in the first-half, before a fine individual strike from Jack Grealish rounded off the scoring in the second period.

Brighton and Hove Albion easily dispatched of Nottingham Forest on Friday night as they hosts ran out 3-0 winners. Gaetan Bong’s whipped cross found Anthony Knockeart who got the Seagulls’ first, before Glenn Murray netted his first two goals in his second spell at the club.

Wigan Athletic made light work of Blackburn Rovers, who have now conceded seven goals in their first two league games, as the Latics won 3-0.

Max Power’s misplaced shot fell into the path of an alert Will Grigg, who coolly headed home the opener and the hosts found themselves 2-0 up with just over half-an-hour gone when Nick Powell curled in a 25-yard free-kick into the top left-hand corner.

Rovers boss Owen Coyle’s afternoon got worse after Shane Duffy put the ball in his own net with just under 30 minutes left.

Barnsley earned their first Championship victory this season with a 2-0 home win over Derby County. Conor Hourihane was the star of the show for the Tykes and it was his 25-yard strike that struck the post before hitting goalkeeper Scott Carson’s head as the ball crossed the line.

The midfielder then played a crucial part in the hosts’ second as Alfie Mawson headed home Hourihane’s free-kick.

Queens Park Rangers brushed aside Cardiff City as they won 2-0 at one of their manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s former sides. The Hoops finally took the lead with quarter-of-an-hour left to play when Steven Caulker headed home Jake Bidwell’s cross, before Tjaronn Chery doubled the visitors’ lead ten minutes later when he converted a penalty.

Brentford overcame Ipswich Town as they won 2-0, with both goals coming from an unlikely source. Summer signing John Egan was brought in to shore up the Bees’ defence, but his brace inside the first eight minutes of the second-half gave Dean Smith’s side a valuable three points.

Birmingham City won for the second season in a row at Leeds United as they won 2-1. Jacques Maghoma put the Blues ahead as he glided through the Whites’ defence before a deft finish.

Hadi Sacko equalised for Garry Monk’s side, who remain pointless after two matches, yet Michael Morrison made sure of the win after turning in the rebound from Jonathan Grounds cross.

Wolverhampton Wanderers remain unbeaten after beating Reading 2-0, as Walter Zenga won his first league match at the club. Full-back Matt Doherty’s thunderous strike put the hosts ahead after he beat two defenders, which was followed up by a Joe Mason header.

And finally; after thrashing Blackburn 4-1 last week, Norwich City had to settle for a dull 0-0 draw at home to Sheffield Wednesday, as the two promotion candidates produced a stalemate contest.
