Chelsea and Arsenal target Gonzalo Higuain is reportedly set to join Juventus after they met his €94 million release clause at Napoli, according to Football Italia.

The Argentina international is understood to have been a long-term target for the Premier League duo, but it appears as though last season’s top scorer in Serie A is instead closing in on a move to Juve, after they activated the clause which is worth just shy of £80 million.

Reports suggest that the 28-year-old already completed his medical in Madrid on Friday, and put pen to paper on a contract that will run until 2020, although the huge fee could be paid over a period of two years.

The news could come as a blow to Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, who is desperate to sign a striker this summer to provide competition for Olivier Giroud, while Chelsea continue to be linked with a swoop for Real Madrid attacker Alvaro Morata.

If Chelsea really mean business the club should provide Antonio Conte with his requirements, the season will be more competitive.
