Chelsea and Manchester City are reportedly eyeing a summer move for Juventus’ £48m-rated centre-back, Leonardo Bonucci, according to the Corriere dello Sport.

The Italy international is rated as one of the best defenders in world football at the current time, and again caught the eye in his nation’s 2-0 win against Belgium at Euro 2016 on Monday night, providing a brilliant assist for the Azzurri’s first goal with a fantastic long-range pass to Emanuele Giaccherini, who finished well.

Incoming Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, who is currently managing Bonucci and the Italians in France, is a known admirer of the 29-year-old, having also worked with the defender during the duo’s time together at Juventus, but he won’t be prised away on the cheap, with the Serie A champions placing a price tag of €60million on his head.

Meanwhile, new City manager Pep Guardiola is understood to be concerned over the continued fitness of Vincent Kompany, and is yet to be convinced by Nicolas Otamendi and Eliaquim Mangala, meaning a centre-back is near the top of his summer transfer wishlist.
