Chelsea have officially announced the signing of Spain international striker Alvaro Morata.

The Premier League champions have handed the Real Madrid forward a five-year contract, after splashing out a reported club-record £60m on the player, according to BBC Sport.

The 24-year-old, who has 20 international caps for his country, scored 20 goals and provided six assists in 43 appearances for the La Liga and UEFA Champions League champions last season.

Morata becomes Blues boss Antonio Conte’s fourth summer signing at Stamford Bridge, following the similar arrivals of goalkeeper Willy Caballero (Manchester City), defender Antonio Rudiger (AS Roma) and midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko (AS Monaco).

After sealing his move to Chelsea, the hitman told the club’s official website, “I am so happy to be here.

“It’s an incredible emotion to be part of this big club.

“I am looking to work hard, score as many goals as I can and to win as many trophies as possible.”
