Chelsea are reportedly mulling over a shock summer swoop for Ghana international forward Andre Ayew, according to The Sun on Sunday.

The Premier League side, who face West Ham United in their 2016/17 English top-flight campaign opener on Monday 15 August, are understood to be interested in luring the Swansea City star to Stamford Bridge.

The 26-year-old, who has 67 international caps for his country, scored 12 goals and provided five assists in 35 appearances in all competitions for the Swans last season.

Ayew, who only arrived at the Liberty Stadium back in June 2015 on a free transfer after leaving Ligue 1 outfit Marseille, is wanted by new Blues boss Antonio Conte to strengthen his front line options.

The report suggests that the Ghanaian, who was a priority transfer target for fellow Premier League rivals Sunderland back in January, could move for £12m.

Ayew scored against Chelsea inside Stamford Bridge on the opening day of the 2015/16 campaign in a 2-2 draw.
