Chelsea have reportedly had a £40m bid rejected for Portugal international Andre Gomes, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Premier League side, who could only finish tenth in the English top-flight standings during their miserable defence of the 2014/15 title, have been continually linked with a move for the highly-rated Valencia midfielder.

The 22-year-old, who has 12 international caps for his country and is currently with the Portugal national squad in France for EURO 2016, scored four goals and provided seven assists in 41 appearances in all competitions for the La Liga outfit last season.

Gomes, who is also said to be attracting interest from Manchester United and Serie A champions Juventus, has impressed for Portugal at this summer’s European Championships as they prepare to face Wales in the semi-finals on Wednesday night.

The report suggests that the Blues launched a £40m offer for the midfielder’s services, but Valencia have turned down their approach and are in fact holding out for an increased amount from Italian giants Juve.

  1. If Valencìa is still ŕequesting fòr the £42m then we are almost there so let’s add the 2m to save the situation

  2. They should sell us this guy. Juve cannot pay such a huge amount of money on a player.
