West Ham target Gael Clichy has confirmed his departure from Manchester City.

According to a report on talkSPORT the defender confirmed his departure during a Q and A session when asked about Joe Hart’s future.

Clichy has made 39 appearances this season in all competitions but at the age of 31 he’s been informed that his future lies away from the Etihad.

Slaven Bilic is a big fan of the former Arsenal defender and hopes that his vision for West Ham can appeal to Clichy.

The former Croatian international boss wants to form a resolute defence and believes that Clichy offers his side priceless experience to build around offering a strong influence off the park and on.

Despite having more than 300 Premier League appearances to his name Bilic is confident that Clichy offers value on a three year contract compared to paying a transfer fee to import a player into the club.
