Crystal Palace set to beat Sheffield United to young striker

Crystal Palace are reportedly set to beat Sheffield United to the signing of young Ballymena striker Matthew Shevlin.

The 16-year-old, who is already a regular for the Northern Irish club, recently spent time on trial at the South London outfit.

The Blades have also scouted the forward and want to bring him to Bramall Lane, but those hopes could be scuppered if the Eagles, as expected, make an offer.

Shelvin has made three appearances in the Northern Ireland Premier League this term, scoring two goals.
