Burnley have completed the double signings of midfielder Johann Berg Gudmundsson and goalkeeper Nick Pope.

The newly promoted Premier League side, who face Swansea City at Turf Moor on the opening day of the new 2016/17 English top-flight campaign on August 13, have signed the Charlton Athletic stars on three-year deals for an undisclosed fee, with the option of a fourth year.

Midfielder Gudmundsson; 25, who has 52 international caps for Iceland and helped his country reach the quarter-finals of this summer’s European Championships in France, scored six goals and provided 12 assists in 42 appearances in all competitions for the relegated Championship outfit last season.

Meanwhile goalkeeper Pope; 24, kept six clean sheets in 28 appearances in all competitions for the Addicks last term.

Gudmundsson was part of the Iceland side that sent England out of EURO 2016 with a shock 2-1 win, leading to nation team coach Roy Hodgson’s resignation shortly after the full-time whistle.
