Northampton Town earned the most lucrative EFL Cup third round tie after drawing Premier League giants Manchester United.

The League One outfit, who defeated West Bromwich Albion 4-3 on penalties (AET 2-2) in midweek, will host Jose Mourinho’s Red Devils during the week commencing September 19, 2016.

Elsewhere; League Two side Accrington Stanley will travel to West Ham United’s London Stadium to take on Slaven Bilic’s Hammers in the next round after they defeated newly promoted Burnley 1-0 on Wednesday night.

Defending League Cup champions; Manchester City, will start their 2016/17 defence away to fellow top-flight rivals Swansea City, whilst last term’s beaten finalists Liverpool take on Derby County at the iPro Stadium after easily sweeping past fellow Championship contenders Burton Albion 5-0 on Tuesday night.

Defending Premier League champions Leicester City face a tough task against Antonio Conte’s Chelsea at the King Power Stadium, Southampton host Crystal Palace at St Mary’s Stadium and Hull City travel to Stoke City in the final all-top-flight third round ties.

Other ties include Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal heading towards the Midlands to take on Nottingham Forest, Leeds United host Blackburn Rovers at Elland Road in an all-Championship affair and League One Gillingham will look forward to their trip to White Hart Lane to try their luck against Tottenham.
