England women’s captain Steph Houghton has launched her own website to enable her adoring fans to get closer to the Lioness and Manchester City star.

The website, www.stephhoughton.com, delivers up-to-date news and information on the defender’s life both on and off the pitch. It is a one-stop shop for all her social media accounts and has free and exclusive behind the scenes content, competitions, charity news and a host of other exciting features.

Houghton capped off a remarkable 2015 by captaining England to a memorable third-place finish at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada last summer – the highest placing of any England football team in an international competition since 1966.

Manchester City centre-half Houghton was appointed England captain back in January 2014.

The 27-year-old also skippered the Citizens to their best ever finish in the Women’s Super League, finishing agonisingly behind eventual champions Chelsea on the final day of the season. However City earned qualification to the UEFA Women’s Champions League for the first time in the club’s history.

Her success was recognised at the highest level and she was awarded an MBE after being named in the New Year’s honours list.

Houghton, whose new website is aimed at bringing her fans closer to her life on and off the field, said: “I’m really excited about the possibilities of this website.

“I believe there is nothing quite like it out there. I really wanted to give fans a way to get to know me better because I think that’s something that is lacking in football in general.

“Fans watch players week in week out and may never meet them, so this was an opportunity for me to show who I am to fans that I might never get to meet.”
