As EURO 2016 edges closer towards conclusion, there’s still time for a mouth-watering semi-final to take place. France vs Germany. Blue vs White. Muller vs Griezmann.

Atletico Madrid maestro Griezmann has been in scintillating form, scoring four goals and assisting twice in five games, and the clinical forward has certainly forgotten about his dreadful penalty miss in the Champions League final. Currently the top goalscorer at EURO 2016, he will want to add to his record, especially against the world champions.

Muller on the other hand, has had a competition to forget. Normally a tournament expert, when it comes to scoring goals, the clever German still has not found the back of the net in five appearances.

His closest effort came in the last game against Italy, where he was only denied by an outstretched Alessandro Florenzi foot. He has registered one assist so far.

The pair will face each other, both hoping to reach the final on Sunday, July 10. For France, to win on home soil, will add extra incentive to defeat their opponents, after losing to them 1-0 in the quarter-finals of the World Cup in 2014. The Germans however, will attempt to emulate Spain’s domination of World and European football.

Les Bleus boss Didier Deschamps is optimistic playing Germany in the semi-final and has shed his thoughts on the upcoming fixture, “They’re reigning world champions and one of the best sides in the European Championship.

“But it won’t be a stroll in the park for them. We’ll go all out. Anything is possible.”
