Everton appoint Ronald Koeman as their new manager on a three-year deal

Everton have confirmed the appointment of Ronald Koeman as their new manager, on a three-year deal.

The Dutchman leaves Southampton after two years in charge on the south coast, with Saints set to receive around £5million in compensation from the Toffees for the 53-year-old’s services.

The Merseyside outfit have been without a manager since they sacked Roberto Martinez just before the end of the season following a disappointing campaign, in which they eventually finished in 11th in the Premier League table.

New owner, Farhad Moshiri, has now got his first-choice target with the contract said to be worth around £6million a year to the new man in charge, while rumours suggest he will be given £150million to spend on the squad this summer.

Koeman led Southampton to their best ever Premier League finishes – seventh and sixth-place respectively in his two years at St Mary’s – securing Europa League football for Saints on both occasions, with an overall top flight win rate of 47%.
