Everton are reportedly in advanced talks to sign France international star Moussa Sissoko, according to L’Equipe (via the Liverpool Echo).

The Premier League side, who defeated Stoke City 1-0 at the weekend to move up to fourth in the English top-flight standings, have been linked with luring the Newcastle United midfielder to Goodison Park before the close of the transfer window tonight.

The 27-year-old, who starred for his country during this summer’s European Championships in his homeland as France lost out to Portugal in the final, scored one goal and provided eight assists in 39 appearances in all competitions for the Magpies last season as they suffered relegation from the Premier League.

Sissoko, who is also said to be attracting interest from top-flight rivals Tottenham as well on deadline day, has made it clear that his future lies away from St James’ Park following the club’s demotion to the second-tier of English football.

The report suggest that Newcastle value the energetic midfielder at around £35m.
