It was a close call between the towering Belgian and England international Ross Barkley; but Romelu Lukaku wins this loving gong mainly due to his blistering form this season.

The 22-year-old; who has 42 international caps for his country, is the Premier League’s second highest top goalscorer this term, behind Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy (18), having found the back of the net an outstanding 16 times in 25 outings for Everton.

Lukaku; who remains the Toffees’ club-record signing after arriving from defending league champions Chelsea back in July 2014 for a reported £28m, now has a glittering 56 goals in 112 first-team appearances for Roberto Martinez’s side. That is an average of a goal every other game for the 6ft 3in hitman.

Out of Everton’s 46 league goals from their opening 25 fixtures this season; Lukaku has been heavily involved in 21 of them having also assisted five strikes, underlining his significance and adoration at Goodison Park this year furthermore.
