Record holders Arsenal begin their FA Cup defence at home to familiar opponents Sunderland on Saturday afternoon at the Emirates Stadium (15:00), with the Gunners bidding to lift the trophy for a third successive season.

Arsene Wenger’s side, who also top the Premier League table by two clear points, will be hoping goalkeeper Petr Cech can record his 14th clean sheet in his 27th appearance for the club since his £10m summer move from Chelsea.

Meanwhile the Black Cats, who lie four points adrift of safety in the English top-flight, will be expecting fellow shot stopper Costel Pantilimon to be kept busy between the visiting goalposts having conceded 36 goals in 18 games for Sam Allardyce’s struggling outfit so far this campaign.
