Arsenal and Chelsea have been given a boost in their pursuit of Turkey international forward Arda Turan, according to Sport (via Talksport).

The Premier League duo, who finished second and tenth in the English top-flight standings last term, have been linked with a summer swoop for the FC Barcelona winger ahead of the upcoming 2016/17 campaign.

The 29-year-old, who has 94 international caps for his country and featured for Turkey at this summer’s EURO 2016, scored two goals and provided four assists in 25 appearances in all competitions for the La Liga champions last season.

However Turan, who only arrived at the Camp Nou last July following his £29m switch from Spanish rivals Atletico Madrid, has been restricted to just nine league starts and could be offloaded by Barca boss Luis Enrique following the club’s capture of Denis Suarez.

The report suggests that the Spaniards are willing sell the £20m-rated Turkish star, with the Gunners and Blues set to be put on high alert.

However, the Premier League rivals are not the only potential suitors interested in Turan’s services, as Super Lig outfits Galatasaray and Fenerbahce are also hopeful of taking him back to Turkey.
