Whilst June saw the first stages of Euro 2016 get underway, the Football Foundation continued its excellent work investing money from the Premier League, The FA and the government (via Sport England) into the lowest levels of the game.

A true Premier League legend was out in force to show his support with former Aston Villa captain, Stiliyan Petrov, visiting Balsall & Berkswell FC in Solihull. The club was unveiling their new changing pavilion and grass pitches, which were built after receiving a £440,759 grant from the Premier League and FA Facilities Fund, which is delivered by the Football Foundation.

Petrov played 573 games in his career whilst also amassing 106 caps for his national side, Bulgaria. He outlined the importance of the facility: “The grassroots game is where it began for me and it is where all these young footballers here today started out too – that is why having quality facilities is so important.

“I’ve been lucky enough to train and play at on some of the best pitches in the world but I also know what it’s like to play on quagmire pitches or worse still, not play at all because the surface is waterlogged and the game has been cancelled. This is something that simply won’t happen now, thanks to this new facility.”

Make sure your first summer signing is Club Cashback!

The Foundation has teamed up with Club Website to create this super tool which gives grassroots clubs the chance to make some extra cash to help run their teams.

You and your team mates buy stuff online, as usual, from thousands of shops to earn cashback. How does it work? It’s simple; just find your team by using our ‘Club Search’ feature. Then browse the Club Cashback section for your favourite online retailer and click through to their website. Once there, buy your stuff and your club will get the cash, back!

See how the Foundation has improved facilities near you

The Foundation recently created a brand new ‘impact’ section of its website, showcasing the results of its investment into grassroots football over the last 16 years.

Every pitch which receives money from the Foundation is monitored so we know how many people are using it. This information feeds into this new section on the website, which shows the impressive results of our work!

For example, you can see how many new teams have been created in an area of the country, the total number of 3G pitches the FF has built or even the different sports played at those facilities.

All you have to do is visit the page at www.footballfoundation.org.uk/impact.
