Fulham have agreed a £2m deal to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Richard Stearman.

The Championship rivals have had their bid accepted for the club’s Player of the Year and Fans’ Player of the Year last season after the centre-half was left out of Wolves’ 2-1 victory over Charlton Athletic this afternoon.

The 28-year-old, who has made 235 appearances for the Midlands club since 2008, played 45 times in all competitions for Kenny Jackett’s side last season.

With just one year remaining on his current deal at Molineux; the Cottagers have seemingly snapped up the defender in a cut-price deal as manager Kit Symons aims to push Fulham towards promotion to the Premier League this term.

This is madness – Stearman was our best player last season, held his own in the Premier League, has been captain this season – he’s from Wolverhampton, for crying out loud, cut him, he bleeds gold and black – and yet we are selling him for a poxy 2 million – despite having 2 years left on his contract. Has Moxley had a bump on the head, the fat controller has really messed up this time. I like Fulham – they are a nice club, and I’m pleased that one of our favourite sons is going to them, as they will look after him, and he will make a massive difference to them – but why??? Stearman should be captaining his home town club, who he loves, all the way to the Premier League. They had better be getting Joleon Lescot in to replace him!!!!

I’ve just remembered we paid about 2 million for him years ago when we got him from Leicester- and he was bad in those days. So we have turned a donkey into hero, and we are not even making a profit. Like I say Moxey must have had a bump on the head. Daftest transfer of the year. Well done Fulham – you have wangled the bargain of the year, a Ferrari for Allegro money. Jez Moxley, we expect your resignation in the morning….
