Fulham are reportedly interested in former Chelsea defender Michael Mancienne.

It is understood that the Championship club have tabled a bid of between £1.5m and £2m for the central defender, who has impressed at Nottingham Forest since arriving from Bundesliga outfit Hamburg just over a year ago.

The 27-year-old, who made six first-team appearances for Premier League champions Chelsea between 2006 and 2011, made 39 appearances in all competitions for Dougie Freedman’s side last season.

Former Forest boss Stuart Pearce brought Mancienne, who made 30 appearances for the England Under-21s, to the City Ground last summer for £1m.

Despite Kit Symons already acquiring USA international Tim Ream from Bolton Wanderers earlier this summer, the Fulham manager is still eager to strengthen his defensive ranks ahead of the close of the transfer window on September 1.
