Ex-Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp believes his former club are favourites to win the 2016-17 UEFA Europa League title.

The 69-year-old, who managed Spurs between 2008 and 2012, guided the Premier League side into the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League in 2011, before being knocked out to La Liga giants Real Madrid.

Ahead of Tottenham’s Round of 32 first leg tie away to KAA Gent on Thursday night (18:00), BT Sport’s football expert Redknapp exclusively told Shoot!, “I think they must be favourites [to win the Europa League].

“I still think Tottenham’s starting XI is the best starting XI in the [Premier] League, better than Chelsea’s.”

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Redknapp added, “They have got a chance of winning it. I don’t think there will be many teams stronger than them.

“I think Tottenham are better than Manchester United. I think they are better than Borussia Monchengladbach. Better than Schalke.

“If Tottenham put their best team out, they can beat anyone.”
