Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci has reportedly rejected claims that he could replace John Terry at Chelsea this summer, according to Quotidiano Sportivo via the Daily Express.

It was understood that incoming Blues boss Antonio Conte wanted the Italy international to replace Terry, who looks set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer with no new contract offer on the table for the former England captain.

However, Bonucci has played down claims that he could leave the Serie A champions, with the 28-yaer-old telling Quotidiano Sportivo: “I’m proud to be part of the history of Juve and I see no reason to leave. The marriage to the Bianconeri was done last year.”

That news will come as a blow to Conte, who is keen to strengthen his new team’s central defensive options in what has been a disastrous campaign for the Premier League holders, who currently sit in 10th position in the table.
