Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Senegalese striker Khouma Babacar, according to Corriere dello Sport (via the Metro).

The Premier League side, who currently sit second in the English top-flight standings, just one point behind leaders Chelsea, are understood to have entered the race to land the Fiorentina forward ahead of the forthcoming January transfer window.

The 25-year-old, who has been at Fiorentina since 2008, has scored six goals and provided two assists in 11 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A outfit so far this season.

Babacar, who is expected to leave the Stadio Artemio Franchi in the new year having started just three league games this term, is also said to be interesting defending Premier League champions Leicester City as well.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is interested in the Senegal star, especially with speculation intensifying over the future of fellow forward Daniel Sturridge at Anfield, who has started just four league fixtures under the German this campaign.
