Liverpool are reportedly edging closer towards sealing a whopping £45m deal to sign Algeria international forward Yacine Brahimi, according to A Bola (via the Daily Star).

The Premier League side, who reached the UEFA Europa League final and finished eighth in the English top-flight standings last term, have stepped up their summer recruitment process early with a marquee move for the FC Porto winger.

The 26-year-old, who has 28 international caps for his country, scored 10 goals and provided 11 assists in 49 appearances in all competitions for the Liga NOS outfit this season.

Brahimi, who has a £45m release clause in his current deal, has also been linked with the likes of rivals Manchester United, plus Italian giants Juventus and AC Milan.

However the report suggests that Jurgen Klopp’s Reds are in pole position to land the Algerian ace, who would become the Merseyside outfit’s club-record signing by surpassing Andy Carroll’s sum of £35m back in January 2011.
