Liverpool have completed the £34million signing of Southampton forward Sadio Mane, in a deal which could eventually be worth £36million to the south coast club.

The Senegal international moves to Anfield on a long-term deal, while the fee the deal could rise to would eclipse the club-record £35million that the Reds paid for Andy Carroll in 2011.

The attacker is the third player that Jurgen Klopp has brought to Merseyside already this summer, adding to the signings of goalkeeper Loris Karius, and defender Joel Matip.

The 24-year-old scored 21 goals in 67 top flight appearances for Saints after joining for £10million from Red Bull Salzburg in 2014, including netting the Premier League’s fastest-ever hat-trick against Aston Villa in May 2015.

Mane is the fifth player to make the move from Saints to Liverpool over the course of the last two years, following in the footsteps of Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert, Dejan Lovren and Nathaniel Clyne.
