Premier League giants Liverpool have ended their interest in Fulham defender Ryan Sessegnon, leaving the door open for Tottenham to complete a deal, reports The Liverpool Echo.

The 17-year-old starlet has enjoyed a sensational breakthrough campaign at Craven Cottage, netting five goals and laying on three assists to help Slavisa Jokanovic’s men reach the Championship play-offs, although they were denied a return to the Premier League by beaten finalists Reading in the semis.

A stunning brace and performance in their 3-1 win at Newcastle back in March as well as other impressive displays has increased Sessegnon’s stock immeasurably, and has thus attracted interest from the upper echelons of the Premier League.

However, one side that won’t be pursuing their interest in the youngster is Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, as The Liverpool Echo report that the Reds are unsure whether they’d be able to persuade him to move to the North West.

And it now appears that Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs are hot favourites to seal a deal for the 17-year-old, coinciding with the Tottenham boss’ desire to nurture young and upcoming talent.

And with the futures of full-backs Danny Rose and Kyle Walker both uncertain, Sessegnon may even get regular first team football at the North London outfit over the coming years, while Klopp will now have to turn his attentions to other defenders in a bid to solve his left-back crisis.
