Liverpool are in competition with a number of Europe’s elite to be chasing Borussia Monchengladbach’s Mahmoud Dahoud.

According to The Mirror, the 21 year-old has been a longtime of Jurgen Klopp. The German has identified Dahoud as one for the transfer wish list, though it is expected the Reds will wait to the summer to make an official offer.

Liverpool’s patience has left the door open for Barcelona who have joined the race for the midfielder with one goal and one assist in 11 Bundesliga appearances this season. The Catalans are thought to step up their interest if they miss out on Marseille star Maxime Lopez.

Dahoud’s unconvincing form has not wavered Klopp’s interest. The former Borussia Dortmund boss sees midfielder as one for the future and has informed the Liverpool hierarchy he is a primary target.

Gladbach are still hopeful the German will sign a new deal with the club as they look to boost his price tag.
