Liverpool have reportedly joined the race to land France international starlet Kylian Mbappe, according to Sky Sports.

The Premier League side, who finished fourth in the English top-flight last month to qualify for the UEFA Champions League, have registered an interest in signing AS Monaco’s highly-rated forward this summer.

The 18-year-old, who already has four senior international caps for his country, scored an impressive 26 goals and provided 14 assists in 44 appearances in all competitions for the 2016-17 Ligue 1 champions last season.

Mbappe, who is also attracting interest from Premier League rivals Arsenal, French outfit Paris Saint-Germain and La Liga giants Real Madrid, could be set to surpass the world record transfer fee this summer – which stands at £89m (Paul Pogba’s return to Manchester United from Juventus in 2016).

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

The report suggests Jurgen Klopp’s Reds are the latest team to become interested in Mbappe’s services after a phenomenal breakthrough campaign at the Stade Louis II.

However, Monaco are determined to keep hold of their prized asset and are ready to offer the striker a 900 per cent pay rise, raising his wages from £16,000-a-week to £140,000-a-week.
