Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool are on alert as Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang looks set to hand in a transfer request, according to Bild (via The Daily Mirror).

The 27-year-old has been one of the most prolific strikers in European football over the past few years, and this season has been one of his best yet with a remarkable 39 goals in just 45 matches for the German side.

That takes his Dortmund tally since moving there from Saint-Etienne back in 2013 to a staggering 119 goals in just 188 appearances, yet he may not be adding to that tally again as he is reportedly ready to hand in a transfer request this summer.

And that will certainly interest former Dortmund boss Klopp and his Liverpool side, who have been linked with a move for the Gabon international at times this term, as have fellow Premier League outfit Manchester City.

The Reds will be returning to the Champions League next season and certainly need to bolster his squad to cope with those demands, and signing one of Europe’s most lethal forwards would definitely do just that.

However, the Merseyside outfit may have to pay £55 million for Aubameyang’s services, and with interest likely to be rife in the 27-year-old, Klopp will have to act fast to reunite with the forward at Anfield.
