Liverpool are reportedly lining up a £25million bid for Southampton forward Sadio Mane, after being snubbed by Bayern Munich’s Mario Gotze, according to the Guardian.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp had been hoping to bring World Cup winner Gotze to Anfield this summer as he looks to boost a squad that finished eighth in the Premier League last term, but the 23-year-old has changed agents in the last week and says he intends to fight for his place under new Bayern boss, Carlo Ancelotti.

Now Klopp has turned his attentions to Saints star Mane, who looks set to leave St Mary’s this summer, although he could face competition from top flight rivals, Manchester United and Tottenham, for the Senegal attacker’s signature.

Despite being dropped by Ronald Koeman at the start of 2016, Mane ended the season as Southampton’s top goalscorer in all competitions with 15 goals, including three in two matches against Liverpool.
