Liverpool are reportedly ready to table an offer for Germany international defender Jonas Hector, according to Emanuele Giulianelli of Tribal Football.

The Premier League side; who finished eighth in the English top-flight standings last term, despite reaching the final in both the League Cup and Europa League, are poised to revive their interest in the highly-rated FC Koln left-back.

The 26-year-old, who has 20 international caps for his country and starred for Germany at this summer’s European Championships in France, provided four assists in 34 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit last season.

Hector, who is understood to be keen on a summer switch to Anfield before the close of the transfer window, is wanted by Reds boss Jurgen Klopp after selling fellow defender Brad Smith to Premier League rivals AFC Bournemouth, plus full-back Jon Flanagan is set to be loaned out.

However the report suggests that Liverpool will need to fork out £22.5m to seal Hector’s signature.

Absolutely need him. Moreno has learned very little defensively, and is caught out continually. No chance of 4th place with a leaky defence.
