Liverpool are set to offload their second striker in the space of a week.

Serie A outfit Fiorentina are reportedly close to finalising a £6m move for Italy forward Fabio Borini.

The 24-year-old, who was manager Brendan Rodgers’ first signing at Anfield, has failed to live up to expectations in the Premier League ever since sealing his £10.5m move from Roma over three years ago.

The Italian international scored just one goal in 18 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool last term and is fully expected to follow Rickie Lambert out the exit door after the England striker joined West Brom in a £3m deal last week.

It is thought that Premier League rivals West Ham United were keen on taking Borini on loan for the forthcoming campaign, but Liverpool want to sell the forward to aid their bank balance following their summer spending spree this transfer window.
