Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Spanish goalkeeper Sergio Rico, according to Fichajes (via the Daily Star).

The Premier League outfit, who currently sit ninth in the standings following Sunday’s 3-2 defeat to the hands of Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium, are thought to be closely monitoring the Sevilla star ahead of this summer’s transfer window.

The 22-year-old; who has been called up to the Spain national team, despite eventually failing to make his international debut, has kept 14 clean sheets in 37 appearances in all competitions for the La Liga outfit so far this season.

Despite regular number one at Anfield; Simon Mignolet, recently penning a new long-term contract at the club, boss Jurgen Klopp is still on the lookout for another shot stopper considering the Belgium international’s regular inconsistency between the sticks.

The report also suggests that back-up ‘keeper Adam Bogdan’s Liverpool career could be over this summer, having fallen out of favour and behind highly-rated youngster Danny Ward in the pecking order.

A product of Sevilla’s youth academy, the report also states that the Reds could land Rico in a deal worth around £7.9m.
