Liverpool have reportedly been told they will have to pay £45million if they want to sign Barcelona’s Aleix Vidal this summer, according to Mundo Deportivo via the Daily Express.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp had been targeting a move for the 26-year-old, who often plays on the wing, but with Barca right-back Dani Alves understood to be on the verge of signing a three-year deal at Juventus, the Catalan giants are now keen to keep Vidal at the Camp Nou to cover for the Brazilian’s departure.

As a result, the La Liga champions are demanding that the right-sided player’s £45million release clause is met if any club does want to sign the former Sevilla man, who has only made 14 appearances in all competitions since joining last summer in a deal that could eventually be worth up to £17million.

That is likely to put paid to Klopp’s interest, as it would take up a large chunk of his summer budget.
