Moreno has impressed for Liverpool at left-back this season.

Despite the arrival of Jurgen Klopp as manager in October, Liverpool’s inconsistent form has continued, and they are currently ninth in the Premier League table.

However, there has been better fortune for one of the Reds’ defenders, Alberto Moreno, who has impressed at left-back following a disappointing personal start to the campaign.

Summer signing Joe Gomez was preferred on the left side of defence by former boss Brendan Rodgers, but when the youngster injured his anterior cruciate ligament, ruling him out for the rest of the season, Moreno stepped in and took his chance.

The Spaniard is only seven top-flight appearances shy of his total for last term and has helped his side keep six clean sheets, while already providing more assists and key passes going forward than last season.

One moment that really stood out defensively was when the 23-year-old chased down Southampton’s Sadio Mane at Anfield in October, while the speedy Senegal forward was breaking away, before performing the perfect challenge to win the ball.
