FC Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing England international defender Nathaniel Clyne, according to The Sun.

The La Liga giants, who currently sit third in the Spanish top-flight standings, two points adrift of rivals and leaders Real Madrid, are understood to be eyeing a surprise £20m move for the Liverpool full-back.

The 25-year-old, who has 13 international caps for his country and featured for the Three Lions at Euro 2016 earlier this summer, has provided two assists in 12 appearances in all competitions for The Reds so far this season.

Clyne, who arrived at Anfield from Premier League rivals Southampton back in July 2015 following his reported £12.5m switch, is wanted by Barca to replace Dani Alves, who joined Serie A giants Juventus on a free transfer before the start of the 2016/17 campaign.

Boss Luis Enrique has seemingly not been convinced by either Sergi Roberto or Aleix Vidal at right-back, hence his pursuit of England defender Clyne, whose contract at Liverpool doesn’t expire until 2020.

  1. FROM A SUPPORTER FROM SIERRA LEONEI am telling bacca that clyne is not for sale because liverpool fc has been looking for number 2 and he is a correct one for the club. Further more why BACCA could not train their academy players as they are joking to be the number club in the world. Dr Klopp do not sell any player from the club as you have major tarkets this season. Bravo to Klopp and the management of Liverpool fc.

  2. I am requesting Mr Klopp not to sell Clyne to BACCA or any other club as at now Clyne is one of the stars for Liverpool Fc to challenge for the Title this season. I wish good luck to Clyne to stay in the club and continue to work hard to win the title this season.

£20m rated. That is truly hilarious. So what we are saying is that a player at a top club who is pretty much the best player in his position in the league is rated at £20m. £20m buys you potential. Clyne is an established international, who has consistently stood up to all the Premier league teams have to offer and bnever been fouind wanting. The fact that the club would never consider selling him means that a more realistic price would be between £40-50m
