Manchester City are reportedly ready to make £10million-rated Bayern Munich midfielder Sebastian Rode one of their first summer signings, according to the Sunday Mirror.

Incoming City boss Pep Guardiola is a big fan of the 25-year-old, despite the fact that he isn’t a regular in the Spaniard’s Bayern side at the current time.

However, Guardiola believes Rode can provide good cover in a midfield that could lose both Yaya Toure and Fernando in the summer, with the former said to be unwilling to work with the new manager, and the latter a target for Liverpool and FC Porto.

The Citizens are ready to spend big this summer, but Rode, who has two years left on his contract at the Allianz Arena, could be one of their cheaper additions.

However, the midfielder, who has scored one goal in 13 appearances for the German giants this term, is also being closely watched by Tottenham, Wolfsburg and Bayer Leverkusen.
